  13. This file contains informations not included in the documentation, and the
  14. information about the CRYPWIN.INI file.
  15.

  19. HARDWARE requirements :
  20. ───────────────────────
  21.   PC 386 or above computer with MS-WINDOWS 3.1 or above. 
  22.   A few memory to run. In fact, CRYPTO may deal with only 100Ko of free 
  23.   VIRTUAL memory, but will take much time to execute.

  25. To install CRYPTO: 
  26. ──────────────────
  27. Under WINDOWS:
  28.   Launch INSTALL.EXE [FILE|EXECUTE ...] ,then follow instructions.
  29.  
  30. At DOS prompt:
  31.   Type ( in the installation directory)
  32.   WIN INSTALL.EXE
  33.  
  34.   CAUTION: THIS VERSION ALLOWS YOU ONLY ONE SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION.

  36. CRYPWIN.INI File :

  39.   CRYPTO store in this file some informations used when starting.
  40.   If this file is missing, CRYPTO create another one in its directory.
  41.   Here are the options:
  42.  
  43.   [DEFAULT]    
  44.   LANGUAGE = Set the default language of CRYPTO when starting.
  45.              FRENCH     for French language           
  46.              ENGLISH    for English language
  47.              ASK ALWAYS You always need to choose default language when
  48.                         starting.
  49.              ?          You need to choose a default language the next 
  50.                         time you run CRYPTO.
  51.   
  52.   BANNER =  Name with path of one of the banner file.May be modified while 
  53.             running
  54.   
  55.   WORKING DIRECTORY = Last selection path.May be modified while running
  56.  
  57.   PRIORITY = Set the priority level of CRYPTO for multitasking. Could NOT be
  58.              modified when running.
  59.              LOW   For low level priority. CRYPTO will very easily yeld 
  60.                    control to other applications.
  61.              HIGH  For high level priority. CRYPTO will use the main part
  62.                    of processor time.
  63.              MID (or anything else) a balance between the precedent options.
  64.                    
  65.              NOTE: MID and LOW prior reduce speed of scrambling/unscrambling 
  66.                    process.

  69.   CHOOSE METHOD   = 0|1   These 4 options shows the latest state of the
  70.   PROCESS ALL     = 0|1   checkboxes in the scrambling window. See online
  71.   HIGH SCRAMBLING = 0|1   help for further details. You do not have to care
  72.   ADD BANNER      = 0|1   with the values of these sections.

  74. EXE banner listing :

  76. - The English EXE banner source code is provided in the package (WARNING.ASM).
  77.   We made it in assembler to have the smallest size for banner file. If you
  78.   own an assembler, you may easily custom the message. Note that this 
  79.   program is a COM type program. We rename it into .EXE, because CRYPTO 
  80.   doesn't accept .COM extension as banner file.

  82. Errors in Documentation paper & windows .HLP format :

  87. Known bugs :

  89. - CRYPTO doesn't make a difference between net, HD and CD-ROM drive. Since 
  90.   scrambled files replace the originals, this operation is impossible on 
  91.   CD-ROM or read only drives. No file damages are to fear, but if you wish to 
  92.   protect files from a CD-ROM, you MUST copy them into another drive first.

  94. - A General protection fault may occur sometimes with files bigger than
  95.   your PC's RAM. This is due to WINDOWS' memory management, witch is 
  96.   sometimes impredictible.
